Bigger Than You Think! Tour Review

BareBones Ent made it out to the last show on the Bigger Than You Think! Tour featuring Simple Plan, Bowling For Soup, 3OH!3, and LOLO. We were beyond pumped to make it out to this show as all of these bands are awesome, and put on killer shows! Did the bands flow well together though to make for a good concert?

One of the great things about the Toyota Music Factory in Irving, TX, is parking is pretty simple. There is a designated parking garage with plenty of parking. We got parked pretty quickly and made our way to the doors. We got right in relatively quickly and down to our seats on the floor to get ready for the first act of the night, our buddy, LOLO.

We always love catching LOLO when she comes to town. She had the job or warming up the crowd for the night and she did a good job. She was able to get so many great songs in her setlist like “Faceplant”, “The Devil Wears Converse”, “Debbie Downer”, and much more. With this being the last night of tour, the bands were all coming out on stage with each other and having fun. During “Debbie Downer” some members of Simple Plan and Bowling For Soup came out with pompoms to help out with the song.

LOLO sounded great and the band was playing with a lot of energy. I love seeing LOLO being on these big tours and getting her music out there so much!

3OH!3

3OH!3 was next to hit the stage and the crowd was immediately off their feet. They had the room rocking. This was my 3rd time seeing 3OH!3 and every time is a party! I loved seeing the group just having fun on stage with each other. They played the hits and some songs I don’t think I’ve seen them play before. Jess from The Summer Set was playing drums for the band which was a nice surprise. Jess is a very talented drummer, so that was rad.

It was cool hearing their new song, “Slushie”, live. It’s a very fun, high-energy song to see live. Near the end of their set the rest of the bands came out as maintenance workers and danced with 3OH!3 to “Don’t Trust Me”. As always 3OH!3 is one of those bands I always recommend for people to go see live and give a shot.

Bowling For Soup

Next up were the hometown kids, Bowling For Soup, who came to the stage to a loud applause. The crowd was beyond ready for Bowling For Soup. What can I say? Texas loves Texans. Bowling For Soup put on an awesome show with their mix of songs and comedic interludes that is classic Bowling For Soup.

The band hit every demo in their set from the hardcore fans to casual fans to even kids, when they knocked out the Phineas and Ferb theme.

There was a fun moment in the set where all the bands came out and they all posed for pictures together. Bowling For Soup always puts on an amazing show and is a band that you can’t recommend high enough.

Simple Plan

It came time for the main event of the evening. Simple Plan hit the stage to a deafening applause. The crowd was up and moving for the entire set. A Simple Plan show means you are going to get hit in every emotion and have a blast doing it. They played practically every song you would want to hear, including “Untitled” from the center of the crowd.

For me, personally, I was so pumped to hear some songs that I hadn’t had a chance to hear them play live before. This included my probably my favorite song of theirs, “Astronaut”. It was cool getting to hear “Can’t Keep My Hands Off You” also.

LOLO came out to perform “Jet Lag” with the band and part way through the song all the other bands came out with their suitcases looking for baggage claim. This was such a fun moment to witness, and you could tell the band was trying to hold it together. Another dope moment saw a flood of Scooby-Doo’s storming the stage and getting up there with the band for, “What’s New Scooby-Doo”. There were so many Scoobys up there and everyone looked so excited.

Simple Plan always brings it and puts on such a fun live show. Another band that I highly recommend catching when they come through your area.

This was such a fun concert to get to experience. One of the biggest things that stood out to me was how every band was seemingly having the time of their lives and enjoying being together. That chemistry is amazing to see and adds so much to a show to me as a reviewer and huge fan. If any of these bands hit your town they are practically must see shows!
