BareBones Ent caught the Dallas stop on the Idobi Radio Summer School Tour featuring bands Letdown, Honey Revenge, Scene Queen, Stand Atlantic, Magnolia Park, and The Home Team. The bands took over the South Side Ballroom in Dallas, but was the show worth checking out? Let’s break it down and let you know if it is worth you catching a date.

Once doors opened the process getting into the venue was very quick and easy. I’m not sure if every date has been like that but Dallas certainly was. The doors opened at 4 for an early show start at 5. We walked up towards the barricade and got ready for the show.
Letdown.

What a hell of a way to kick off a show. Letdown. came out with a ton of energy and sounded great. I had only heard a couple songs before seeing them live, and they instantly turned me into a fan. The entire band worked the stage well moving across the entire stage and interacting with the crowd. They looked like they were having a lot of fun out there, and I think that helped pull in the crowd of people still arriving at the venue.
The entire performance showcased very clean, crisp vocals alongside powerful and energetic instrumentals. Highly recommend checking them out. We got the chance to interview them later in the night, so keep an eye out for that dropping soon too.
Honey Revenge

The next band to hit the stage was Honey Revenge. I have been following Honey Revenge for a while now but this was my first time getting to see them live. The first thing that jumped out to me was how much it looks like they loved being on stage together. The entire set you would see them laughing, smiling, dancing in-sync with each other, and just appearing to have an awesome time. For a fan in the crowd that’s really cool to see.
They danced a bunch, sounded great, and it was a very fun set. I’d love to catch another set on a non-festival tour where they had a bit more time.

Scene Queen

We had seen Scene Queen before so we knew she puts on a really good show. There were a lot of people dressed up in the crowd in your classic Scene Queen pink and cowboy hats, so this crowd was ready.
We ended up being able to catch maybe around 4 songs because we had an interview during this set. The ones we saw were good though. Appeared to be another good show and from what we could see the crowd had a good time with it.
Stand Atlantic

Stand Atlantic was the next band to hit the stage and the crowd showed them a lot of love. They came out and dove right into their set much to their crowd’s pleasure. They put on a high energy show that featured numerous pits and some crowd surfing. The guitarist got down in the pit with the crowd, which is so much fun to see too.
They dropped an absolute showstopper when they got the crowd to calm down for a minute to get some people to slow dance. They hit the lights and the disco ball lit up, which was awesome. We were waiting all night to see if anyone would use the disco ball, so that was fun. They put on a cool show and gave the crowd something different to experience. We also were able to get an interview with them, so keep an eye out for it.

Magnolia Park

Magnolia Park has been a band I have wanted to see for a long time, and they did not disappoint. They put on such a fun show, that had the crowd hype from beginning to end. I think their set had the most pits and crowd surfers for the night, and they also brought a good number of guests on stage, like Honey Revenge, to perform with them. Which I feel crowds love to see the bands interact with each other on stage.
This was probably my set of the night. The energy was there for me, the band was absolutely on fire, and sounded amazing. I cannot recommend catching Magnolia Park in your city enough. We were also able to meet up with the band for our first interview of the night, so that was awesome.
The Home Team

The Home Team was the closer for the night and they were a ton of fun. They came out to the stage with someone in a blow-up elephant costume dancing, which had the crowd pulling their phones out before they even fully hit the stage. Let me just say, they must be beat after their sets, because they had the wildest energy of the night. When I tell you they danced their entire set, they danced their ENTIRE SET.
I have worked with The Home Team in the past but this was my first time getting to see them live and they put on such a great show. Hot off the release of their latest album, The Crucible Of Life, the crowd was singing all the songs along with the band. This was my videographer’s band of the night, and they sent the crowd home happy. We got the chance to catch up and interview them in person, which was a good time.

Overall, we had an awesome time at the Idobi Radio Summer School Tour. This was an insanely stacked lineup and none of the bands disappointed. The show time was great and they made an effort to make tickets affordable for people which was cool. I also really liked the concept of the 4 rotating headliners. I think that adds to the appeal of the event and the surprise of each tour date. I highly recommend catching a date of this tour if it hits your town!
