In Case You Missed It: Freak Of Nature

In case you missed it, Cleveland punk band Heart Attack Man released their much-anticipated new album Freak Of Nature on May 26, 2023 on Evil Doer Records. If you have been waiting to grab the album check out our thoughts below.

Freak Of Nature is such a fun album to listen to. We couldn’t put it down after we got our copy of it. The album feels like such a great mix of modern and older punk/pop punk.

Heart Attack Man ease you in to the album with the first track on the album, “Practiced In The Mirror”. This is definitely one of the slower and softer songs on the album but does a good job of warming you up for what is coming.

Things just go on a crazy run of songs that are just an absolute blast starting at track 3 “Like A Kennedy”. While lyrically it could possibly rub some people since it talked about the JFK Assassination. As a citizen of Dallas-Fort Worth though, we love a good mention. The song truly is catchy and could perhaps shock some.

This leads in to “Late To The Orgy”, which I may be alone here but gives me some Butthole Surfers vibes. The song feels different than many songs on the album and it really draws me to it. Which brings me to my favorite song on the album.

“Stick Up” immediately stood out to me. I absolutely love this song. Maybe it resonates with me as someone that is nonconfrontational and passive that could benefit from speaking up more. The song is a lot of fun to listen to, vibe, and blast it.

“See You On The Other Side” seems like a logical way to close out the album. The song is a good mix of energy throughout it. The song also literally tells you its over, so there’s that too.

I admittingly have not listened to Heart Attack Man much before this album, and it made me want to dig into their entire discography. To me that is a very successful album.
