Friday, Oct. 14, musician Matt Sassano is teaming up with TheHopeLine to launch a mental health initiative called “My Dear God Letters”. Find out more about My Dear God Letters and where you can check it out below! (The link will be posted at the bottom).

“My Dear God Letters” ties into Matt’s music and recent EP, The Defiance. The Defiance calls for people to stand against the things that make them feel alone, depressed, and powerless. TheHopeLine and “My Dear God Letters” will provide a space where people can share their stories, write, letters and seek support from an open and warm community, along with professional support from TheHopeLine themselves. See below what Matt had to say about this initiative.
“We are hoping for a variety of submissions from people who just are tired of ‘faking it’ and want a place to be real with how they feel and what they are dealing with. I sincerely believe the first step to mental health healing is being transparent about the ugly things nobody wants to confront. My Dear God letter gives you that chance.”
I think this gives people an opportunity to speak about the things that are hurting them in a more comfortable space and allow them to find refuge in people who have felt similarly. Talking about your struggles and how it affects you is such a huge first step, and I feel that “My Dear God Letters” offers people a source to take that step.
Please see below what Matt had to say about teaming up with TheHopeLine.
“As a person who has suffered mental health issues in the past, I resonate with TheHopeLine’s mission. I was once a kid locked away in a psych ward with not many people who even cared to visit me. It was dark. But later I saw things turn around and I was a mental health aide in a psych facility. I’m living proof that you CAN turn things around with both prayer, support and help. I believe what TheHopeLine does and am passionate about helping people find the same healing I did.”
