Carousel Kings is a pop punk band out of Pennsylvania that has been on the scene since 2008. The band is made up of David Alexander and Will Barovick. They have been hard at work on their Untitled Mixtape that will be releasing February 2023. BareBones Ent got the chance to sit down with David Alexander to discuss the band, recent releases and what the future holds for Carousel Kings.
BBE: What is Carousel Kings to you?
DA: Carousel Kings is my creative outlet and my launching pad to getting out whatever it is needs getting out emotionally and passionately
BBE: What do you think it is that helps Carousel Kings stand out to fans?
DA: Hopefully consistent growth and better songwriting with each and every release.
BBE: For my business, I wish I had a better understanding and handle on marketing, so if there is one thing you could improve on for your band, what would it be and why?
DA: Probably just the ability to get together more often and jam out. That or finding a solid booking agent who could plop us out with some sweet runs.
BBE: You have been releasing some singles off of your upcoming Untitled Mixtape. How have fans been reacting to those songs?
DA: They seem to be warming up
BBE: There are a number of songs on there that are collaborations or have features on them. What made you decide you wanted to do a mixtape with collabs and features?
DA: We tried doing it on the Plus Ultra (2019) album but Victory disallowed us to be able to list the features how we wanted. This was our first independent release since them so it felt good to be able to do whatever we wanted to do without any label or manager squeezing us into uncomfortable positions.
BBE: Were any of those more difficult to be able to work out, logistically?
DA: Everyone we worked with on this album was really chill and fun to create with.
BBE: For putting together a song, what would you say is a positive and negative to doing a collab?
DA: Positive would be just Vibes and making sure everyone is chill on the same wavelength. Gotta have fun. try not to force anything just let it flow
BBE: What further information can you give us on the mixtape?
DA: Anyone who preorders the physicals will receive them before the album is fully out digitally
BBE: Aside from this release, what is your near future looking like?
DA: More releases! We have a lot on the back burner. Some remixes of old songs and some more singles and Collabs
