CrowdKill Records artist, Nathan James, has been making an impact on the rock scene. An artist in all senses of the word from musician to photographer, he knows how to create an impression. BareBones Ent got the chance to sit down with Nathan to discuss his music, signing with CrowdKill, and his photography. Take a look below and see what all Nathan had to say.
BBE: How would you describe your music to new listeners?
NJ: It has three elements: hip-hop, melodic, and metal breakdowns.
BBE: You recently signed with CrowdKill Records. What made them stand out to you as the right choice for you?
NJ: I trust them and they’re logical people. You’ve gotta work with people who you trust and who are logical.
BBE: With having just recently signed, do you have any goals you would like to accomplish with CrowdKill?
NJ: I want to become the best and biggest music artist that I can be, and continue to do music for the rest of my life, and have that support me financially.
BBE: At the end of February, you released your latest single, “Alienation.” The song is great. How did it come together for you?
NJ: I struggle with extreme anxiety and I was on Lexapro medication for it. When I wrote “Alienation,” I was going through a really bad time of just panic attacks 24/7 and I felt like I didn’t belong in my own body, and as if I was an alien in my own body. That’s how the whole concept and idea of “Alienation” came about. I literally wrote it about how I was feeling.
BBE: What has the response been like to the song?
NJ: People are loving the new song. Their response has been great.
BBE: Have you had a lot of fans singing the song with you at shows? What’s it like for you seeing the crowd coming prepared with the new song?
NJ: Yes, this is the most I’ve seen people singing along to the songs which is a good sign. That means I’m growing and more and more people are becoming fans.
BBE: What has you most excited about the America’s Rejects Tour?
NJ: More experience, more reps to be better at what I do.
BBE: With being a well-known and sought after photographer. Do you do any shoots while on tour?
NJ: Absolutely not, I try to rest as much as possible. Tour is already so chaotic, I don’t want to add more stuff to the workload.
BBE: You have a who’s who, list of people you’ve shot. Was there one that was especially meaningful for you? One you’d still love to get?
NJ: It was really cool to shoot Lil Wayne– I always looked up to him and liked his music when I was a little kid.
BBE: We are still early in 2025. What can you share that you have planned for the remainder of the year?
NJ: I’m going to be dropping my first ever album called The Hollywood Mortician. Also hopefully one or two more tours this year as well.
BBE: What is the best way for fans to stay up to date and connect with you?
