California’s own Alt-rock band, Pushing Veronica love to have a good time while still melting faces! They sat down with us to chat “Wasted”, filming music videos, and more. Check out below what all the band had to say when they met up with BareBones Ent.

BBE: How would you best describe your band to new listeners?
PV: I would certainly say that Pushing Veronica has a sound that combines early alt punk references such as The Offspring, NOFX, and Linkin Park mixed with contemporary alt rock and Nu metal references such as Muse and System of a Down while adding Irreverent humor.
BBE: What do you think it is about Pushing Veronica that makes you stand out?
PV: We are a band of uncanny characters that don’t fit into societal norms in ways you would typically expect. We like to keep it lighthearted but with intense energy and in your face jams that will get your booty movin.
BBE: Earlier this year you dropped the video for your song, “Wasted”. Let’s start with the song. What does that song mean to you?
PV: “Wasted” is a song based from the experience of how difficult it is to find meaningful employment in a time that makes it so hard to be able to afford to live and continue to make an income. Employers seemingly have no respect for employees these days with offering little to no pay or benefits keeping it at the bare minimum as much as they can. It seems there is no point to work for these kinds of people and much easier to just get fucked up and forget what kind of world we live in.
BBE: How have fans reacted to the song?
PV: For the most part we have only received overwhelmingly positive support and the fans seem to love it! “Wasted” has helped us grow our numbers immensely and help us achieve many long-term goals that we have placed for ourselves. Such as getting on to Spotify curated playlists and reaching over 10k followers on Instagram. We are so thankful and appreciative of the support that we’ve received.
BBE: This is a very relatable song dealing with those feelings of rejection and disregard that all of us have gone through at different times. Was there a moment that you felt initial rejection that you overcame?
PV: There have been many instances where I’ve been rejected from different businesses when faced with the odds of trying to make an income. Many jobs want you to sell your soul away to them and to give them every little amount of time you have otherwise you are a liability if you have your own dreams and aspirations of growing on your own. I have actually started down a new path of going to school for music to become a self-sufficient musician and to hopefully make an income doing what I absolutely love to do! If you aren’t enjoying yourself than what is the point. You only have so much time.
BBE: I love the video for, “Wasted”. It looks like you guys are having a blast filming it. What was filming this music video like for you?
PV: This was definitely one of the most fun music videos we had ever filmed. We kept the budget as small as possible and asked our friends to borrow locations. The entire time we were filming just felt like a party or a fun kick back with the boys, getting to experiment with different themes and shots. Overall a 10/10 experience!
BBE: How did you come up with the idea for this video?
PV: We thought up, what are the most dead-end jobs and how can we make it as irreverent and silly as possible given a miniscule budget so that we could still deliver to our fans.
BBE: Were there any challenges that you faced filming it?
PV: The biggest challenge of this video was getting into that filthy, gross-ass pool. Festering with mutated insects, snakes, dead animals, and frogs. I took a very very long shower after that shot. 100% do not recommend the swamp spa.
BBE: What is next for Pushing Veronica?
PV: Since the music video, I had a surfing accident and broke my leg leaving me bed-ridden for the next couple months. This has definitely been a slowdown but as soon as this leg is healed, we will be back in action getting booking shows, releasing new music, and re-planning previously cancelled tours so that we can be in a neighborhood or city near you!
BBE: What is the best way for fans to connect with you?
PV: The best way to connect with us personally is at Pushing Veronica on Instagram or Facebook, we’ll reply to any questions, inquiries, and comments as quickly as possible!
BBE: Anything else you would like to add?
PV: Stay hard and have a ball!
