Sacramento rock band, SAGES, have been keeping busy working on their latest EP. BareBones Ent got a chance to take a break with the band and chat about their single “Walk Away”, upcoming EP, and more! Take a look below and see what all they had to say.
BBE: How would you best describe SAGES to new listeners?
SAGES: Heavy, melodic, atmospheric, introspective, tight.
BBE: What do you think it is about your music that helps you stand out for fans?
SAGES: In all honesty, the songs. Plain and simple. As objectively as this can be put, the songs are just great fucking songs. Top to bottom.
BBE: You recently released a new single, “Walk Away”. What does this song mean to you?
SAGES: I feel like “Walk Away” really embodies Sages as a whole. Sonically and lyrically. High highs, low lows and everything in between. If you dig “Walk Away,” you’ll dig Sages, period.
BBE: How was the creation of this single for you?
SAGES: Dino brought a demo of the tune to the rest of us and we all just fell right in. Tweaked some things here and there and we were off and running. That’s mostly the dynamic of Sages. Cohesive and bonded as homies and artists. A shared vision and love of being together creating.
BBE: You worked with Beau Burchell on this single. What was working with him like?
SAGES: Working with Beau is always a blast! He’s the most talented, down to earth and generous dude. He really has a knack for hanging back and allowing you to be you while asserting great ideas and vision and developing you to your full potential. We always wish we had more time with Beau!
BBE: How do you feel that influenced the direction of the song?
SAGES: Well, I feel like you always wanna work with a producer/engineer that inspires you and gets your vision. So yeah, Beau definitely impacted the final product. From a sonic standpoint to the structure to layering to overall vibe. Beau took us beyond what we thought to be a great demo and turned “Walk Away” into a straight banger!
BBE: Is this purely a single release, or is this part of a larger release?
SAGES: This is the first of many more tunes to come. And in many different forms. More singles, possible EPs, albums, etc. It’s just the beginning.
BBE: What details are you able to share with us on that?
