Q and A with SOKOJO

SOKOJO is a band that is bridging the gap between classic rock and modern rock. They have found the sweet spot containing aspects of both. This band is releasing their debut EP, More, and got with us here at BareBones Ent to share the news! Take a journey with us below as we chat with the band about the release and much more!

BBE: How did SOKOJO come together?
SOKOJO:
Kris and Kyle were born together as identical twins. We moved to Los Angeles and met Jeff through a mutual friend. We then met Sabastian through a coworker.

BBE: How would you describe your music to new listeners?
SOKOJO:
We take inspiration from classic rock bands and fuse it with modern day indie rock sounds.

BBE: We are getting close to the release of your debut EP, More. How are you
feeling?
SOKOJO:
We are all THRILLED to finally have the music out after being delayed by the pandemic for a year. There’s a lot of songs we feel people will connect with after going through a globally shared experience.

BBE: How was the creation of the EP?
SOKOJO:
It was a step by step process mixing unconscious contributions from the band’s favorite artists while creating our own original vision. Recording during the pandemic wasn’t easy, but it gave us a lot of time to fully realize what we wanted each song to sound like.

BBE: Did you have to pick what songs you wanted to put on the EP and leave
some off?
SOKOJO:
In total we had 10+ songs which made it tough to pick from. These songs were the best representation of where the band is, and we’ll be releasing the other songs in our next EP. Stay tuned!

BBE: Being your debut does that bring about some more nerves?
SOKOJO:
We’re more excited than nervous, this is the fun part. We’ve worked hard on these songs and so now comes the part where we let it go and hope others find meaning in them.

BBE: February 4th, when More drops what will you be doing?
SOKOJO:
Oh, we’ll be partying.

BBE: Do you have anything planned for after the release?
SOKOJO:
We have an EP release show at the Mint on February 18th. We’ve got a slew of amazing bands ready to rock.

BBE: What is the best way for fans to connect with you?
SOKOJO:
Our insta is @sokojomusic, we’re also on YouTube as SOKOJO.

BBE: Anything else you would like to add?
SOKOJO:
We’re always aiming to make music that somehow, someway, helps other people. We always want to connect with the people who find meaning in our music. So if you like it, reach out!
