Pop punk band, RoZY are ready to spread their infectious music around the world and explore more outside of Houston. The band is made up of lead singer and guitarist Zoe Flores, drummer and backing vocals Molly Flores, guitarist and backing vocals Brandon Martinez, and bassist and backing vocals Noah Elkins. Take a load off with us and see what all RoZY had to say when they chatted with BareBones Ent!

BBE: How would you describe your music to listeners?
ZF: Alternative rock. It’s kind of like a party platter. Even though we play rock music, each of the songs we have is all different in its own way. Some more pop, some heavier, some even a little more disco and funky. With us we love keeping our fans on their toes.
BBE: What is it about RoZY that you feel makes you stand out to fans?
ZF: I feel that it kind of ties with the question before, we try to keep our listeners entertained and show off all the different sides of us in our music. We also love to put on a show and make sure the crowd has one heck of a time. Recently we’ve even had our bassist bring in a cello for our show just to give it those extra layers and create those memorable moments that you can’t get when you just listen the music on your phone.
BBE: Do you feel there are any pros and cons to being part of a band with your sibling?
ZF: Most definitely, Molly and I have been doing this since we were 10 and 11 years old, so I’m sure you can imagine all the bickering that went on in between rehearsals and coming up with new music when we were kids cause we were SO close that it added that extra conflict between us. However, with that being said, we have also had this bond when we play that’s almost like a 6th sense to where if we’re performing and one of us messes up, we ALWAYS know where to come in and how to fix it mid show without skipping a beat. I’d definitely say that’s a pro and came with time. Another Pro is that since we are so similar now we are usually always on the same page with decisions with the band with causes less conflict.
Also having her as my sister made practice easy cause if we needed to rehearse all I had to do was walk across the hall and knock on her door and say “Hey, its time to practice let’s go”..
BBE: What is it like for you to see your following continue to grow?
MF: It’s really such a blessing to us. To know that people enjoy what we do enough to give us a follow, comment nice things, and come to shows to cheer and support us. It’s a great feeling and we hope it continues to grow with the more people that see us and discover our music.
BBE: Are there people that you can recognize from the beginning that you still see supporting? What is that like?
ZF: Completely. We have a guy that’s come to our shows since 2014 and we call him “Uncle Alan” cause he’s become part of the family. It’s really awesome and we’re so fortunate to have him. Another cool thing that we have been getting recently is having people come up to us saying “I remember you guys when y’all were just a duo (my sister and I for 6 years) or when y’all we’re a trio. It makes us so happy to hear that. Our immediate family has seen 95% of our shows. From little donut shops, to House of Blues, opening up for such big acts like Night Ranger, Nita Strauss, The Iron Maidens, and everything in between they have been there supporting us and helping us on this journey.
BBE Aside from crowd size, what would you say is the biggest difference between your earlier shows to now?
ZF: Well, we were a 2 piece for 6 years with just drums and vocals and guitar where I would play bass as well every now and then. Molly and I would have our Sheet music on a little stand for us playing in coffee shops with our parents and family watching us. Then we met Brandon and became a trio with him on bass from like 2015 to 2019 with was a different world entirely by adding another human into the group, and now we’re a full band with Noah being officially added this year. So I’d say the amount of people that we with us is definitely different, as well as the show opportunities as well because we’ve been doing this for so long.
BBE: We are based in DFW, so not too far from Houston. What is the scene like out there?
MF: Lots of hip-hop and rap for sure. The rock scene is here, but it’s a little more metal based. However, venues like Warehouse LIVE and RISE Rooftop have given us so many opportunities to get our music Infront of more people and open up for so many amazing acts. So we are very grateful for that.

BBE: You recently released a new song “Drunk On Love”, How have fans been reacting to it?
MF: They seem to really like it!
BBE: What is the story behind the song?
ZF: This song was actually written when I was a senior in High school. I had “Fallen in love” with a guy that really was one of my first relationships, It was all new to me and since I wrote to express my feelings when I didn’t know what to say or how to express it, everything I felt with him ended up turning into the song you hear today, and I feel that a lot of people have gone through a similar experience, so I figured, why not put out?
BBE: What is next for you?
RoZY: New music will be out for sure, we plan to explore Texas more as well as other states that we haven’t been able to reach and perform at.
