Arizona’s own Sundressed, have been working hard to get the word out on their upcoming self-titled album coming out via Rude Records on August 11. BareBones Ent got the chance to chat with the band about their latest singles, the new album, and emo music. Take a look below and see what all we got in to.
BBE: If it’s been a while since we’ve talked. How have you been?
Sundressed: Doing really well! Feeling old but happy!
BBE: You’ve called your music adult contemporary emo. What does that mean to you?
Sundressed: I basically mean that I’m writing songs that are emo in nature about being an adult.
BBE: The past few years we have seen a real resurgence in emo music, but more so staying in the familiar style. Do you feel the way you approach your music helps separate it from other artists out right now?
Sundressed: Honestly, I’ve been doing my best to keep up, but I’ve realized the best thing I can do is to be myself, and the people that care eventually find us! I do really enjoy making Tiktoks!
BBE: You have been keeping busy working on your upcoming album and promoting songs. From the years of Sundressed, how have you seen the ways to best promote your music change over time?
Sundressed: This is a tough question, after seeing every social change over the past 11 years, I think authenticity and pure determination are what keep you alive these days!
BBE: We’ve seen you putting out a lot of videos on Tiktok to promote your singles. Was that an easy transition to start creating?
Sundressed: It was hard at first, but I think I’ve found a lane that is fun for me, so it’s become something I enjoy!
BBE: You have recently been promoting your single “There With Me”. How did that song come together?
Sundressed: There with me is a love song about my wife! It’s about forgetting all the past crap that has been weighing you down and just enjoying someone’s company.
BBE: How have fans responded to the song?
Sundressed: We played it on the last tour and people seemed to really like it!
BBE: This is part of your upcoming album. What information can you share with us on the album?
Sundressed: It is our self-titled album, it comes out on August 11 and it’s the best thing we’ve ever done!
BBE: Are you planning any more singles coming out before the release?
Sundressed: One more single!
BBE: What is the best way for fans to keep track of your releases and connect with you?
Sundressed: Tiktok and Instagram seems to be the best way nowadays!
BBE: Anything else you would like to add?
Sundressed: I just want to thank anyone who has been keeping lights on over here at Sundressed! I couldn’t do this without you!
