Jacket Thief is the brainchild of Fu Manchu drummer, Scott Reeder. This talented California musician has poured himself in to this solo project. His debut album, Lights Out On The Shore, dropped in September so it is available now for you to check out after you read this interview! Take a look and see what all Scott had to say when he chatted with BareBones Ent.

BBE: How does Jacket Thief differ from other projects you have been part of?
JT: It’s the first thing I’ve done where I played guitar, sang, played drums, bass, and wrote everything.
BBE: How long have you been working on music for Jacket Thief?
JT: On and off for the last 4 or 5 years.
BBE: What is it about the music you are releasing that has you especially excited?
JT: That its finally out!! And the way the album sounds..its a lot better than I would have expected.
BBE: Speaking of releases, you recently released the single “TLFN”. How did that song come together?
JT: Thats a song that my friend Micheal Rosas and I wrote a while back. I’ve always liked the way it flowed. Micheal had recorded his own version of it with a band he was in..so i just did mine.
BBE: It has a great tone and groove to it. Was the always the vision for the song or did it evolve over time?
JT: It evolved. I always wanted to hear it straight ahead and 4 on the floor, I thought I could make it stomp but retain the good melodies. So that’s what we did.
BBE: This song was on your release, Lights Out On The Shore. Does this fit with the overall tone of the album or how would you describe the album?
JT: The album has a few different styles from heavy and dense to rich and melodic. There’s a couple of acoustic based things and even a quick instrumental that has 4 acoustic guitars in it that I played.
BBE: How have fans responded to the album?
JT: So far everyone has been really positive. People say they like the songs and especially the lyrics, which I worked pretty hard on. So that’s very satisfying.
BBE: Which song are you most excited for people to hear?
JT: Pretty much all of them. I learned a long time ago that if you don’t like a song, don’t put it on an album!
BBE: Are you planning a tour around the album? Any information you can share?
JT: Not at this time. I will probably try and get more material together for a second release before that.. unless this blows up and we get a #1 single around the world haha
BBE: What is the best way for fans to interact with you and keep up with Jacket Thief news?
JT: You can look at jacketthief_scottreeder on instagram and Facebook and our YouTube channel as well as news from scottreederdrums.com
BBE: Anything else you would like to add?
JT: “Keep your coffee strong and your Metal Heavy”
