Barebones Ent sat down with talented singer/songwriter Maggie Schneider to talk about her music. We discussed her single “Tinted Glasses”, writing process, and much more. Take a stroll with us and see what all Maggie had to say when she chatted with Barebones Ent.
BS: How would you best describe your music?
MS: I would best describe my music as being in the singer/songwriter genre, but with a rock edge. My music is influenced by everything from All Time Low and Paramore, to Sara Bareilles and Frank Turner. I always strive to write music that is unique and inspired by everything I love!
BS: Who or what has been a big influence in your song writing?
MS: The biggest influences in my songwriting are my own life experiences. My best and worse memories are what inspire me to write music and continue growing as an artist as well as a person. Musically, I’m constantly inspired by Alex Gaskarth’s (All Time Low) lyrics. He is truly a poet, and I hope to write songs that are as meaningful and beautiful as his.
BS: What is something that goes into your songwriting that fans may not know about?
MS: Fans may not know that I write most of my songs in my living room! Recently, I’ve also been collaborating with my songwriting partner, Alex Crain. Most of the time, we’re able to write and finish songs in less than 24 hours too! Collaborating with Alex on songs like “Break” makes the process so much more fun and creative. Plus, he’s a fantastic writer.
BS: Your song “Tinted Glasses” is great. What was the inspiration behind the song?
MS: Thank you so much! “Tinted Glasses” is about wanting to fix a relationship that just isn’t working. It was inspired by my own experiences with heartbreak, and desperately wanting to be with someone who just never put the effort in. I learned from that experience and am thankful that I went through it because I learned a lot about myself! Writing “Tinted Glasses” helped me let go of those bad memories and focus on moving forward.
BS: How have people reacted to the song?
MS: A lot of people have really connected to the song! It means a lot to see friends and new fans singing along to it because it’s definitely the most personal track on my EP. When I was in the studio with Rian Dawson, he kept telling me how much he loved the song, which was incredibly surreal. I will never forget those moments – it was so inspiring to hear that one of my musical heroes loved the song!
BS: What is it like for you the moments after posting a new song and waiting for the first response?
MS: It is always so fun to post new content and see how people react. I received overwhelming support when I released “Tinted Glasses” back in January. It makes me feel giddy to know that people are actually listening to the music that I create! I just want people to feel something when they listen to my songs, or relate to whatever I’m trying to say. It was really rewarding to receive so many kind notes from friends and fans, letting me know that I inspired them.
BS: What are you currently working on?
MS: I’m currently working on a lot of new music! I’m super excited about my new projects and can’t wait to share them with everyone. I’m also booking more shows, in Atlanta and other cities. I’m taking my time on my new material because I want it to be the best it can be, but other new and cool things will be coming everyone’s way soon.
BS: What is the best way for people to reach out to you?
