South African born singer Sulene released her debut EP, Holding Words Back, on March 25, 2014. This Berklee graduate out of New York City takes the difficulties of a bad relationship and turns it into this lovely EP. Here’s what Sulene had to say about the EP:
“I was in a terrible relationship once, like most people will unfortunately experience in this lifetime. But, somewhere down the line I had a moment of clairvoyance and I wrote this baby EP that I’m so incredibly proud of. Out of the slums of self-doubt and turmoil came the most honest and soul baring plea to myself to let go, be a good girl, and trust fall. The following message is what this EP is here to deliver, it just took a bad boyfriend to help me put it into words. Holding Words Back is about speaking up for yourself, being true to who you are, and never settling for less than what you’re worth.”
Sulene offers the listeners a powerful look at her talent as a musician through her debut EP. The songs are strong lyrically and sound great. She makes a strong case to fans to check out her music, and leaves you wanting to hear more from her in the future. This girl has a bright future ahead of her, and I can’t wait to see where her talents take her. Definitely stay on the look out for an interview with Sulene!
