Old Currents have released their highly anticipated album The Glory, The Defeat. The alternative rockers have been working on the album for a little while now, and are thrilled to have it out in the world. Explore below with us as BareBones digs in and discovers if The Glory, The Defeat lives up to the hype!

The Glory, The Defeat, kicks off with an absolute banger of a song “Here, You Throw This Away”. The song gets into gear immediately and has you already moving before the first words are song. The band picked the perfect song to start the album to give you an idea of the album you are about to hear. You are in for a ride with guitars with a fucking groove, banging drum features, and lyrically/vocally outstanding.
The next song on the album is the single “No Signs Of Life” that I have loved from the moment I heard it. The song is so great to sing a long to and just absolutely blast it. As much as I love the lyrics to the song the guitar and drums really stand out. The song was a great choice for single. My only note is that as a Texas boy it is so hard to hear “The stars at night” and not immediately jump into “are big and bright, deep in the heart of Texas”, but that’s a Texas issue.
I know I am like just going down the tracklist and I promise I will jump down but some of my favorite songs on the album are all in a row! “The Lucky Ones” is THE sing-a-long song. This song is so fun to sing, and I think this is going to be a big crowd favorite at shows. I know I am dying to be in the crowd for it!
I am going to jump down to “In Our Own Time”. This song is another fun song to sing and the guitar work is so awesome throughout. Love the rhythm of the song. The vocalist does a great job of enticing you to sing along, and the energy is infectious. This is another one that would be a blast to see live.
The Glory, The Defeat is a very solid album from Old Currents, and if this is the type of music we can expect from them they are going to take over the scene. I left the album itching to relisten to so many songs. If you love really standout drummer performances too, I highly recommend the album. The whole album is like a drummer showcase. The album fits in perfectly in the alternative rock scene, and also kind of has a pub feel too (but that may just be me). Overall the album has great blast in the car with the windows down singing along vibes all throughout.
