Varna is a rock band out of Los Angeles, CA. In February 2013 they will be releasing their new EP This Time, It’s Personal. After receiving the EP from the band I immediately put it on and thought the songs were great. There are 3 songs on the EP, which may not sound like much but it is worth every song.
The first song on the album is the awesome single, “Down.” This is the first song that I heard from the band when they first contacted me awhile back, and I instantly loved the song. It is something that everyone can relate to, and the lyrics and vocals by Tiana Woods show great feeling throughout the whole song. Not often is the single actually the best song on an album or EP, but “Down” is truly a great song.
Where you have the great lyrics in all of Varna’s songs you have the music being written brilliantly by guitarist Rossen Pinkas. In my opinion “My Heart” showcases this the best. The guitar playing you hear throughout the song drives it and compliments everything perfectly.
The last track on the EP is, “Running Away,” which starts out with probably the most powerful instrumentals on the EP showing fans the band can stand their own in the hard rock genre, also. I think it was a great choice to close out This Time, It’s Personal with this hard hitting track!

This Time, It’s Personal is a good debut for Varna, and shows fans what they can expect from this talented band. The future is very bright for the band and fans will be itching to get their hands on new music. Below is their big single “Down”.
